My father has slipped from us all, his mind increasingly leached away by dementia. My one enormous regret is that, back when he’d have understood what I was on about, I couldn’t have put this book in his hands and said, ‘Hey, Dad, I’ve written a book.’. This is for him anyway.
Olives, the book's dedication.
He died peacefully this evening.
My deepest condolences Alex. I am sure he is at peace, but it is those left behind who have to pick themselves up and find a way to go on. I can only think how proud he would have been to hold Olives. Bon courage to you and the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteI lost my father to Alzheimer's a few years back. It's a heartbreaking disease. By the time Dad died, we all had already grieved our loss over the previous couple of years as he had slipped away from us.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and your family. I know he is very proud of his son.
Condolences, sir. Such a hard thing to lose someone gradually like that. Prayers for you and your family.
